2 Kings 6:1-7
Everyone desires enlargement, only a mediocre will want to remain in the same position. It is natural to start small because whoever wants to be great must start small but remaining small is the worst thing that can happen to anybody.
Abraham the father of faith started small but God made him a blessing not only to his generation but to generations after him. Isaac also started small but God enlarged him. Jacob left his father’s house with only shepherd staff but came back with two troops.
David was a fugitive but God made him great. Jabez was a victim of life circumstances but God enlarged his coast. Jephthah was an outcast but he became a ruler of his people.
Our God is a specialist in turning a nobody to someone everyone wants to reckon with. If you are genuinely serving God, your life is not permitted to remain the same.
The problem today is that many so-called Christians are living in ignorance of God’s purpose for their lives. So the Devil tied them down with the chord of ignorance. And since they did not retain the knowledge of God in their heart, God gave them to a depraved mind to do what ought not to be done. Romans 1:28. Only those who know their God will be strong and do exploits.
If you truly desire supernatural enlargement there are steps you must take.
Steps to Supernatural Enlargement
Discover Who You Are
You cannot be greater than your discoveries. Whatever is hidden to you cannot be enjoyed by you. Gideon remains a victim of circumstances until he discovers he was a mighty man of valor. Judges 6. Joseph would have fall cheap for Potiphar’s wife if he had not discovered that stars are to be bowing down for him. Jacob will have left Laban’s house with nothing except his wives and children if he did not know his worth. If you don’t know you are a child of a king, you will keep living like a slave. The sons of the prophet were in that inconvenient position until they discovered they can enlarge their territory. How far you will go in life is equivalent to your level of self-discovery.
Appreciate What You Have
It is very difficult to improve on what you don’t appreciate. When Elisha asked that widow in 2King 4:1-7, what do you have at home? If she insists she has nothing at home she will remain in that problem and the debtors will enslave her two sons. But God used that one bottle of oil that she never thinks is anything. When God wants to raise a man, he uses what the man has. So, that gift of God in you, that skill you have acquired, that work in your hand is what God wants to use to enlarge you. So appreciate it and work on it.
Involve God in Your Life Affairs
It is dangerous for you to think you can live your life and fulfill your destiny without God. If the disciples had crossed to the other side without Jesus in their sheep, the journey would have ended in catastrophe. If the sons of the prophet had gone alone they will have lost one of the equipments needed for enlargement. If not for divine intervention through the Prophet Elisha, the widow in 2King 4:1-7 would have lost her two sons. A life without God will end in crises. Have faith in him. Be attractive to his instruction, pray to him without ceasing, and always carry him along in your life’s plan. Then, you will see him in action in your life.
Self-discipline is a serious matter in life’s fulfillment. According to John Maxwell:
“Everyone wants to be encouraged. Everyone enjoys being inspired. But here’s the truth when it comes to personal growth, motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing”.
So in the school of enlargement, self-discipline is a major course. Jesus told his disciple that whoever wants to be his disciple must deny himself carry his cross and follow him. Matthew 16:24. Apostle Paul said “All things are lawful unto me but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful unto me but I will not be brought under the power of any. 1Cor. 6:12. If you really want the supernatural enlargement issue of self-discipline matters.
The largest room in the world is room for improvement. Things are changing on a daily basis, so if you want to be relevant you must improve yourself. Proverb 22:29 says: “Have you seen a man skilled in his business he will stand before kings, he will not stand before obscured men”. How skillful you are in your line determines how far you will go in that line. So if you want enlargement, you must work toward self-improvement.
Life is a matter of stewardship. And as a steward, you must be accountable to God and also to men. You must be faithful in everything little or much. You must have someone to check you if things are going out of hand. Don’t be too free that you don’t have someone to guide you.
Commit Yourself to Covenant Obligations
God is a covenant-keeping God. One of the ways to connect Him is to be committed to covenant obligations, such as tithes and offerings, vows, first fruits, and another seal of the covenant as God has told us in His word.
Work Hard and Be Creative
Enlargement is not for lazy people – the Bible says the hand of the diligent that makes fat. God can only bless the work of your hand. When you are doing nothing God has nothing to bless. If you really want to enlarge you must work hard and be creative because we live in a generation where people no longer celebrate profession but creativity.
Be Consistent in What You Do
The hallmark of excellence and the test of greatness is consistency. In life, it doesn’t matter how talented you are. It doesn’t matter how many opportunities you receive. If you want to enlarge, consistency is the key, you must be consistent in your performance and personal growth.
Develop Relationship Skill
A relationship is a major tool towards enlargement. No man succeeds alone. The sons of the prophet in the quests for enlargement need to borrow ax to cut trees which can be possible with a good relationship. The widow in 2King 4 needs to borrow pots which can also be possible with a good relationship.
God never wants you to remain the same. He wants you to expand and enlarge. All you need is to take steps and connect to the covenant of God towards enlargement.
