Staying within God’s Will for Your Life

God's will
Ruth 1:1-7, John 15:9

Our God is a good God, good enough to fulfill his promise for our lives. Life circumstances can be frustrating, but it cannot change God’s purpose for his people. God’s promise for your life may tarry, but it will surely come to pass.

There are situations of life that makes us feel that God’s promises for our lives has been tampered with. Mostly, the Devil takes advantage of our life’s experience to distract us from God’s work and purpose for our lives. Inability to patiently wait for God’s promises mostly distract us from achieving God’s purpose for our lives.

God promised Abraham a child but when the promise seems to be delayed, he went for alternative plan and he created problem for the generations after him (Gen 16). In Gen 26: 2 Isaac experience hardship and he was about to take a step that will jeopardize his destiny, God quickly warn him not to do that, he should stay within his will for his life.

In Genesis 19:30-38, Lot’s children felt they can no longer cope with the plan of God for their lives, so they go for an alternative plan. In Exodus 32 when the Israelites saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, they took step outside God’s plan for their lives.

The experience of Elimelech was not different in Ruth 1. He lived in a town called Bethlehem which means “House of Bread “but unfortunately there was scarcity of bread in the house. When he can no longer waited for divine intervention, he went for alternative plan and his destiny was jeopardized.

Whatever you are passing through now may be tough but don’t let it frustrate you out of God’s will. God is faithful, he will fulfill his promises for you. Whatever you are facing now, you are not in it alone, God is there with you. Isaiah 43:2.

Joseph was sold to slavery but he didn’t allow his life challenges to push him away from God’s will. Daniel was taken captive but he purposed in his mind to stay within the will of God for his life. The three Hebrews in Daniel 3 prefer to die for God’s will than to live as enemies of God.

Whatever you are passing through now will surely end in testimony, but stay within God’s will for your life

Requirement to Stay within God’s Will

Know the will of God for your life

There is no way you will stay in the will you don’t know. In Jeremiah 1:5, God told Jeremiah that before he was formed in the belly, he has been known, sanctified and ordained to be a prophet unto nations. If Jeremiah do otherwise, he would be out of God’s will.

And there is a tendency for him to do otherwise if he had not been aware of this fact. When a Man doesn’t know the will of God for his life, he will be working according to self-will or will of other human being which may negate the will of God.

The question everyone should be asking is that, what am I living for? What did God want me to do? Where did He want me to be? If you have no answer to this questions, you may miss it in life. So you must be sensitive to the Holy Spirit as he answers some life’s critical questions to you (1 Cor 2:9-10)

Encourage yourself in the Lord

It is one thing for you to know God’s will for your life, it is another thing for you to have the courage to stay in it. It takes courage for Isaac to stay in Gerard when the Lord told him to stay there and not to go down into Egypt. Although he faced challenges but he was careful enough to stay there as commanded by the Lord (Genesis 26).

David knew it was the will of God for him to pursue the Amalekites who invade his camp and went away with his people. So he encouraged himself and went on the journey (1 Samuel 30). It takes a courageous man to pursue the will of God for his life.

When you are faced with life’s challenges and some realities of life, the first question is, what is God’s will for me? When you know it, have courage enough to stay in it. Stop surrounding yourself with sympathizers and problem magnifiers. Encourage yourself in the Lord and let your anchor scripture be; I can do all things through Christ whom have strengthened me Philippians 4:13. If you stay within God’s will you will survive the storm.

Be determined to stand for Jesus

Those who don’t stand for something fall for everything. Daniel purposed in his mind not to defile himself with the king’s food (Daniel 1:8) The three Hebrew decided to stand for the God of the Jews rather than bowing for the idol of Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3:16-18) In life’s journey there are many distractions but for you to be able to stay within God’s will you must be determined stand for Jesus all the days of your life.

Always remind God of His promises in prayers

Although God did not forget anybody but you need to show commitment as you reminding God of what he said concerning you. Jesus shows this in his parable of the Widow and the Judge in Luke 18:1 that persistent prayer is the key to get the best out the will of God. prayer is a means of communication between God and man. it’s a tool for effective relationship. So keep reminding God to fulfill his promises.

Fix your faith on Jesus

Faith is a major force that sustain our relationship with God. Faith is an action that is based on believe and it’s supported by confidence.  Without faith no one can please God (Hebrew11:16). It takes active faith in God to stay within God’s will. You can only become what you believe. Our faith in Jesus help us to stay in his purpose for our lives.
